Sheridan County officials are celebrating a significant milestone while providing a history lesson for people who live in the county.
Workers spent all afternoon setting up a mural and panels at the Sheridan County Courthouse that shows the history of the courthouse. The display is part of the county's 125th anniversary celebration.
The mural is a photograph of the current courthouse and the panels represent the different courthouse locations in its history.
County commissioners say this will teach people some surprising historical facts.
"There are a lot of buildings downtown currently, where the county government was in many years ago. Most people won't know that the county government was conducted over a certain store, for instance," said Sheridan County Commissioner Tom Ringley.
A commemorative commission meeting and open house to celebrate the anniversary is set for April 23 in the courthouse.
