Energy bills on par with last year in KOTA Territory

A long winter can have a huge impact on your wallet, but a mild winter, like we have had this year can be a win for consumers.

For the second consecutive year, mother nature has given us a break with lower or at least more stable energy costs.

Black Hills Power Senior External Affairs Manager, Mutch Usera, says the average power bill across KOTA Territory is very much in line with last year, largely in part to warmer weather.

Usera still stresses that paying attention to the effiency of your appliances & homes can help you save money, "The more you do, whether you simply caulking around windows and doors, whether you'll be checking your furnace or your air–conditioning to make sure that they're working efficiently makes an enormous difference on your energy cost".

Usera says most homes have a pretty consistent baseline for energy use but heating & air conditioning are the single biggest factors that can make your bill rise.
