Sheridan city officials want the city to look more welcoming to visitors.
The Sheridan City Council decided Monday night to move forward with a plan to renovate the Fifth Street corridor, which sits between downtown and the Interstate–90 exit.
City and county officials will work with the Wyoming Department of Transportation and local businesses on designing the project. City Councilman John Heath says the plan includes several possibilities, like adding an archway that welcomes drivers into Sheridan.
"Walking paths, bike paths, those types of things, maybe a medium in the center of the street with some trees, bushes to beautify that area," said Heath.
Heath says there is no timeline set because the project is still in the early planning stages.
