Rapid City's University Center has a new place for students affiliated with the military.
The Veterans Resource Center was created by the Veterans Club and will cater to students from all of the six South Dakota public universities.
"It just shows the kind of people that our veterans are," said Governor Dennis Daugaard. "They take care of themselves and they take care of their fellow veterans."
Programs including tutoring, information, resume building and much more will be available for student veterans.
Today's ribbon-cutting ceremony brought distinguished speakers and guests, including Governor Dennis Daugaard.
A major point made by the governor was that the focus of the resource center not about the space provided, but the knowledge that will be available to the veterans and the networks they can create.
There is a long list of resources available for military students, and not just education related services.
"Some kind of a veterans service center on every university campus is something we should aspire to," said Daugaard.
