DOUGLAS, Wyo. (AP) - Crews with the U.S. Forest Service plan to conduct a prescribed burn on the Thunder Basin National Grassland near the town of Weston.
Depending on weather conditions, the "Pappy's Pasture Prescribed Burn" could be started as early as Thursday. The site is about 30 miles north of Gillette on Highway 59.
The agency plans to burn about 200 acres of grassland to help promote native grasses and improve habitat for wildlife such as the sharp-tailed grouse.
