Teens start construction yard fire: One injured

Several local agencies respond to a fire in a Meade County construction yard.

Police say a group of five to six teens started the fire, one of which fell and was injured. The extent and specifics of his injuries are unknown at this time.

According to Summerset Police and Meade County Sheriff Ron Merwin, the juveniles between 14 and 16 years old, were trespassing at Rapid Construction Yard in Black Hawk, breaking windows and starting a fire in a piece of equipment.

Yard owner Bob VanHouten stated that this sort of ruckus is not uncommon, teens are often found vandalizing the yard.

First responders were able to put the fire out not too long after they arrived.
