East Rapid City experiences building and development boom - KOTA Territory News

A section of east Rapid City is booming. Dozens of homes are being built and commercial space is available.
The 800 acre development off of Elk Vale Drive and East Minnesota Street will include two apartment buildings, a church, commercial property and dozens of homes.
The development is part of a five year plan, and is at the beginning stages. Zandstra Construction owns the property and is developing it. Hani Shafai with Dream Design International is designing it.
Shafai says the area is an ideal place to develop both private and commercial lots. "Great access to the hospital, great access to the base and with the Heartland Express opening it brings in a lot of traffic on the outskirts of the development, which creates a lot of exposure for general commercial," Shafai said.
Shafai says the are is easy to develop because of the topography.
