The man who was shot by a Rapid City police officer in February is recovering and expected to face serious criminal charges. That's according to a blog written by Rapid City Police Chief Steve Allender.
Elijah White Magpie, 20, was shot on Feb. 22, a block from the public library by Officer Jerry Moore, a 25-year veteran of the police force.
White Magpie is accused of threatening officers with a large butcher knife. Police officers did use a taser but it was not effective.
No officers were injured.
The Division of Criminal Investigation does not expect to release any information until it has completed its investigation.
