The Rapid City Council wants the community to put together a task force for Art Alley without the council's help.
Representatives from the Dahl Arts Center say and the community say they want to create the 'Art Alley Artists Guild'. The idea came about after comments were heard in a public forum on the issue that was held last week. The guild would look into the crime, graffiti and un-cleanliness of Art Alley. And act as a task force to monitor the alley.
The City Council doesn't disagree with the proposed task force, but council members want the public to form it, rather then the city.
Monday night the Council continued the discussion until the April first meeting.
Council members say they hope the community can come to an agreement and form a task force before then. If not, the aldermen are willing to step in and help form one.
