Highway construction to start soon near Spearfish

Posted:

Spring construction season is right around the corner.  South Dakota transportation officials say I-90 near Spearfish will have reconstruction work starting in April.

Preliminary work began Thursday.  The first phase will replace the Eastbound lanes between Exits 10 and 14.

The work will reduce traffic to just one lane in each direction.  All lanes will open for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in July.  The second phase starts after the rally and covers highway between Exits 14 and 17.  The second phase of construction should end by December 20.
