Women hotel guests request easier access to beauty tools reports USA Today. Online beauty supply store NewVo Beauty advises hotels to provide flat irons and other cosmetic amenities for guest use.

On February 28, Sara Greenstone, a representative from NewVo Beauty, responds to on an article published by USA Today, detailing the need for flat irons and other cosmetic amenities in hotel rooms for guest use.
According to USA Today, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts conducted research about what female guests desire in a hotel room. The survey indicated that many women recommended easy access to electronics chargers, flat irons and quality shampoo as necessities that should be included in hotel rooms. The article said adding these items to hotel rooms could assist female travelers in lightening their suitcases.
“Being able to leave those items at home could help female business travelers turn a checked bag into a carry-on, and prevent the need to spend valuable time waiting at the airport,” reports USA Today.
Greenstone said the findings from Hyatt are not surprising. “Times have changed and flat irons are among the necessities for women,” she said. “If you’re paying good money to stay somewhere, it makes sense to request having a flat iron in the room. Women that frequently travel for business shouldn’t have to lug their hair-straightening irons around from place to place.”
Hyatt said the survey was conducted in order to get to know all their customers better. The hotel company, which owns about 475 hotels under seven different names, said research revealed valuable information was being given from women.
“Initially, we were conducting a study to get greater understanding of what travelers' general perceptions of the overall travel experience were," said Sara Kearney, Hyatt’s senior vice president in charge of brands. "As we started digging, we found that the richest area of opportunity was to focus more on what we were hearing from women. You could tell there were passion points that would make a bigger impact for women, and that men would probably appreciate them as well."
Greenstone said flat irons and quality shampoos could encourage women to visit certain hotels. “If I research hotels and see that they provide decent shampoo and flat irons in the bathroom, I would certainly pay money to go there,” she said. “Women on vacation don’t want to have to pack these things, especially since they can really weigh down a bag. If Hyatt provided these items, I definitely think it would benefit their business.”
