New alliance will deliver an unprecedented level of AED resources and expertise to businesses, agencies, and community organizations across the U.S.
(PRWEB) February 22, 2013
The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association and Emergency University today announced the formation of an unprecedented national alliance in order to meet the urgent demand for life-saving Public Access to Defibrillation (PAD) programs.
The new alliance will forge close partnerships with U.S. community organizations and leaders, and equip them with the training and operational support they need to create successful Sudden Cardiac Arrest Response programs. The alliance will also assist the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association's (SCAA) growing network of chapters in conceptualizing, organizing, and executing their own Sudden Cardiac Arrest Response programs.
As the country's largest sudden cardiac arrest advocacy organization, SCAA carries forward the original mission of the National Center for Early Defibrillation to broaden public access to early defibrillation. Today, its awareness initiatives emphasize sudden cardiac arrest prevention for those at risk, as well as effective response by the ordinary people who are usually the first witnesses of an emergency.
SCAA's diverse nationwide membership includes sudden cardiac arrest survivors, emergency response professionals, and other health advocates and practitioners. As part of the new alliance, these SCAA members will gain direct access to Emergency University's (EU) industry-leading expertise in AED program implementation, operations, training, and management.
"We are delighted and immensely grateful to partner with the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association," said Odelia Braun, Medical Director of Emergency University. "SCAA has long been a powerful champion for Public Access to Defibrillation programs, and we are excited to work together in providing our life-saving PAD resources and technology to even more businesses and agencies.”
Emergency University pioneered blended CPR and AED training, which combines self-paced and interactive online modules with intensive, instructor-led CPR/AED skills classes. In addition to sharing its own proprietary training methodology and materials, Emergency University will support SCAA's popular "Keep it Beating" program for schools and other local community organizations. EU will also offer the same customized AED program planning and management services that it delivers to numerous small businesses, Fortune 500 companies, and government agencies.
EU currently manages an award-winning Public Access to Defibrillation program for the Federal Aviation Administration—with more than 11,000 trainees, the FAA program is one of the largest Sudden Cardiac Arrest Response initiatives in the United States.
"We are very pleased to enter into this close relationship with Emergency University,” said Bill Carney, SCAA’s Executive Director. “EU not only shares SCAA’s vision and mission, but also offers such an outstanding array of resources—resources that will be crucial in developing successful sudden cardiac arrest response programs all across the country.”
Through this non-exclusive relationship, participating SCAA chapters and affiliates will promote sudden cardiac arrest awareness and increase access to early defibrillation in businesses, schools, health clubs, community centers, and other priority venues. Emergency University will provide ongoing logistical and operational support to these chapters and interested local entities.
The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association is dedicated to promoting solutions to prevent sudden cardiac death, including increased awareness, public access to defibrillation, cardiovascular disease prevention, and access to preventative therapies.
Since 1999, Emergency University has been the world’s leading provider of blended and online CPR training, AED training, and First Aid training. Emergency University manages some of the largest and most successful AED programs in the country. EU clients achieve 100% success in delivering functioning AEDs to cardiac events, as well as a 100% response by trained responders to client cardiac events. This ensures that each victim of cardiac arrest has the greatest chance of surviving.
