Broadcasting icon celebrates 50 years at KOTA

Posted:

He's been a staple of radio and television broadcasting in KOTA Territory for many years, ....And Thursday reached a very significant anniversary.

Friends and family gathered at the journey museum to celebrate '50' years of service to Duhamel Broadcasting by Operations Manager Monte Loos.

He says he has many memories of his half century tenure, most notably in keeping Rapid City informed during the flood of 1972.

Company president Bill Duhamel spoke highly of the dedication Loos has to the company and what has made him so successful, "Basically it's his honesty. He calls it like he sees it. If he disagrees with me, he tells me. He really wants what is best for the company. That's deep down where his heart is... Seeing that we succeed and he's a big part of that."

Loos had this to say about his tenure with the broadcasting company,"The time went very quickly and as you think back over the things as I've approached this anniversary, the things that i've done and it is just been a great joy & a great ride"

To commemorate his service to the Rapid City community ...Mayor Sam Kooiker proclaimed Thursday as "Monte Loos Day"
