An industrial park in KOTA Territory receives an award certifying the park as 'move-in' ready.
The Sturgis Industrial Park has been approved as a South Dakota certified ready site by the Governor's Office of Economic Development; a program launched last year.
To qualify as a certified ready site, the park must be completely ready for businesses to move in. Pat Kurtenbach, President of Sturgis Economic Development said the designation as a certified ready site will help attract businesses to the industrial park.
"All of the environmental is done, all of the infrastructure is in place, all of the telecommunications, the power, the gas, and everything is ready to go. It is certified site ready. There is nothing more that they need to do, there are no surprises coming their way," said Kurtenbach.
The newest addition to the park, Samson Exhaust, is expected to complete construction on its 45 thousand square foot facility by May. The company plans to initially employ at least 30 people.
The 45 acre industrial park is home to 20 businesses, with at least 18 acres available for expansion.
