Box Elder arson suspect "insane" at time of crime

Psychiatric reports indicate a Box Elder man was "insane" when he burned down his mobile home while it was still occupied.

Joseph Hodges, 29, is charged with arson and reckless burning.

Authorities say Hodges poured gasoline throughout the home and set it afire on Oct. 25th while his girlfriend and her ex husband were still inside. Both were unhurt.

State prosecutors will have their own Psychiatric expert examine Hodges in the coming months.

Judge Janine Kern also denied a reduction to his $100,000 bond, citing the strength of the state's case against him, and the threat he may still pose to the community.
Hodges faces up to 35 years in prison if convicted.
