DUI stop leads to high-speed chase east of Rapid City

A possible DUI stop turned into a high-speed chase on East Highway 44.

At 9:25 a.m. Friday, a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle that was reported as a possible intoxicated driver in Rapid City. The vehicle continued on East Highway 44 east of Rapid City reaching speeds up to 110 mph.

The vehicle turned on to 185th Avenue and traveled south. The trooper terminated the pursuit due to road conditions. The vehicle was later located disabled near the White River.

The occupants fled on foot and the investigation was turned over to tribal authorities.
