Black Hills Works Foundation Tea Committee names Artist of Year

People got a sneak peak of the new Suzie Cappa Art Center as members celebrated the 2013 Artist of the Year.

Although construction is still underway at the new center, the Black Hills Works Foundation Tea Committee announced Mike Leithauser as this year's Artist of the Year.

He was honored today at the brand new, unfinished Suzie Cappa Art Center at 722 Saint Joseph Street. The new center will boast an art gallery, artist studios, a store, and more.

"We went from a little tiny room with no water to a second location in downtown rapid city. It's a big honor today to let some of our community members and supporters come in and see our new space and also get to honor our first artist of the year in the new space," said Brad A. Winter, Director of the Suzie Cappa Center.

Construction of the new site is still underway and a grand opening will be held later this spring.
