CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) _ The Wyoming House has voted to allow hunters to use silencers on their guns for all types of hunting in the state.
The House on Wednesday stripped off an amendment it had adopted earlier this week to that would have allowed silencers for hunting predators and small game but not for big-game species such as elk and deer.
Proponents say that using silencers helps to protect hunters' hearing. Opponents including the Wyoming Game Wardens Association have said silencers could help poachers and would give hunters and unsporting advantage over game.
The bill now goes to Gov. Matt Mead for his consideration.
