Terry Peak's highest point is now home to a new high-speed addition to the ski resort.
The Goldcorp Express chairlift officially opened Friday, after close to six months of construction.
The 55-chair lift can transport 1,200 people per hour, up and down the slope, at almost double the speed of a traditional chairlift.
Terry Peak staff say the area around the new ski lift may eventually be expanded to include a new lodge and beginner slope. But in the immediate future, the fast lift is a big plus for skiers.
"This helps us move more people up the mountain, and gives our customers more on the snow time," said Linda Derosier, Terry Peak Marketing Director.
Actively mining across from the resort, Goldcorp agreed to pay the cost of the new ski lift as part of a $15 million dollar deal with Terry Peak.
