Custer buffalo roundup to be featured on TV

Custer State Park's 47th Annual Buffalo Roundup will be featured on the television program Born to Explore with Richard Wiese.

The program will be aired Saturday, Feb. 16, 8 a.m., on KOTA Territory TV.

The 2012 Emmy® nominated program filmed on location in South Dakota last September.

Born to Explore is an educational program that takes viewers around the world to join in the adventure with host Richard Wiese. The show offers an educational approach to the earth's wildlife and its unique cultures, from Australia to Iceland to Morocco to Uganda.

"As an explorer, I have traveled around the world to share the beauty, wildlife and cultures of each continent," said Richard Wiese. "At Custer State Park, we experienced the thrill of the buffalo roundup and got a taste of the American West and its thriving cowboy culture. The hospitality of South Dakotans and the magnificence of Custer State Park made for a most memorable adventure."

Wiese continued, "To see over 1,000 head of buffalo being driven across the rolling prairies by cowboys and cowgirls on horseback is a sight all should experience at least once in their lifetime."
