SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) _ A South Dakota inmate has pleaded guilty to escaping after receiving a furlough to attend a funeral.
Twenty-two-year-old Barry Allman, of Hermosa, was released from federal custody for the funeral last November and failed to return. He was captured in Rapid City about a month later.
Allman had pleaded guilty to assault charges for firing a handgun at a party on the Rosebud Indian Reservation and injuring two men with ricochets.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Allman faces up to five years in prison on the escape charge.
