In a special City Council meeting Monday night, Council members approved the funding schedule for the new 50 meter pool, the leisure pool, and field house in Rapid City.
The proposed three step project would cost an estimated $10.6 million dollars. The first phase of the project would include the new 50 meter outdoor pool, built near the existing Aquatics Center on Waterloo Street. The Vision Fund Committee hopes to begin construction on the 50 meter pool in July.
The second round of the project would include the pool at Horace Mann. Ward 4 Alderwoman Amanda Scott said this part of the project is long overdue for the citizens of North Rapid. The project is slated for completion in July 2014.
The third and final portion of the project would include a new Field House that is slated for completion in 2015.
