Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo had its second best year

The 55th Annual Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo has come to a close. Now, the clean up begins after what organizers say was another strong year.

Stock Show General Manager, Ron Jeffries says both livestock sales and overall attendance are on par with last year's record show.

However, he says they saw the attendance dip with the temperatures during the cold weather snap in the middle of the week.

But, thanks to the quick return of warm weather, the last weekend brought in large numbers of people.
"Our overall attendance was really good throughout the week. I think you'll find us pretty close to on par with what we did last year. The cattle sales were strong all the way through, last year we had a record year it was just a fantastic year cattle sales wise. Some breeds were up, some were a little down from that," says Jeffries.
"Rodeo tickets were actually up about five percent this year over last year, but we ended up the whole run down about five percent from last year, making it the second best year we ever had." says Civic Center General Manager, Brian Maliske.

Maliske says this past Saturday drew such a large crowd, it was considered the Civic Centers busiest day of all time.
