A Riverton, Wyoming man's self-taught skill has brought him back to the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo year after year.
Dennis George, the owner of G–G saddles has made over 4,300 saddles in his 45 years of saddle making. His custom saddles take 16 to 18 working hours to complete, and he oversees every detail that goes into them.
Following an accident when he was 18-years-old, George took up making his own saddles, focusing on comfort and rideability rather than stiffer models of yester year.
It was simply a suggestion from a friend that brought him to the Black Hills Stock Show many years ago.
"After the national finals we always had a booth there and after that we needed some place else to go and I had a good friend that was up here, told me about it and came up the next year and it's been a fantastic place," said George.
George's booth will be open through Sunday morning.
