Berges murder case assigned to new judge

A new judge is assigned to hear the case of a Colorado man accused of causing the death of his girlfriend's two year old child.
Judge Thomas Trimble will preside over the Edward Berges case going forward.

Judge Mary Thorstenson who was previously in charge of the case, left the 7th circuit at the beginning of the year.

Berges, who is 23, is charged with second degree murder, manslaughter, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated infant battery.

He will appear in court again next Friday.

Meanwhile, the 7th circuit continues to search for a new judge, and has set an application deadline for February 15th.
