South Dakota senate allocates millions for new veteran's home

While the future of some veterans care facilities in Hot Springs are uncertain, South Dakota lawmakers appropriate millions of dollars to build a new veterans home in the area.
The Senate Appropriations committee passed a bill Thursday, which would grant $41 million dollars to go towards the design, construction and land purchase of a new Hot Springs veterans home. That's $10 million dollars more than previously allocated to the project.

The South Dakota building authority has been authorized to finance up to $16 million dollars of the project, while federal and state general funds would finance the rest. The state run home would have funding authorization until June 30th, 2019.
If the bill is signed by Governor Dennis Daugaard, it would also go into effect immediately.
