Rapid City learning institute undergoes changes

Black Hills Works in Rapid City is now called the Black Hills Works Learning Institute.

Friday the institute held an open house, bringing in people from the community to show off the facility's changes.

In the last three months the Black Hills Works has offered more than 700 classes to members such as cooking, fitness, and art. But now the facility also has an arcade and learning center, and soon the art center will be moving to a new down town location.

Learning Center Coordinator Danett Schille says they want to focus on more learning activities and getting the entire community involved. "The whole goal is that we want the community members to be able to come here and teach people also, we want people to interact with us along with us going out to other people as well just so people can experience different things," said Schille.

To learn how to volunteer at the Black Hills Works Learning Institute call Schille at (605) 415-8242. She says community members can teach classes about anything they would like. Classes range from how to properly wash hands, to how to collect comic books.
