Thanks to thousands of generous people in KOTA Territory, people in our community won't go hungry this year.
The numbers are in: in 2012 more than $80,000 was raised and a whopping 150,000 pounds of food donated to the KOTA Care and Share Food Drive.
This incredible show of support is so important at a time when food pantries have more demand than ever. At Feeding South Dakota in 2011, 39,000 emergency food packages were handed out. Last year, that number jumped to 43,500 emergency packages distributed.
All of the food and money donated in Rapid City is split between the Feeding South Dakota Food Pantry and Church Response. The food and money collected in other areas stays in that community.
