Rapid City police make more DUI arrests in 2012

Rapid City Police arrested more drunk drivers on the road last year than the year before.

In 2012, there were 878 arrests for driving under the influence. In 2011, there were 845 arrests for the same offense.

The police department has two officers whose primary focus is the apprehension of impaired drivers. In addition, several officers are certified drug recognition experts, and are specially trained to recognize drivers who may be impaired due to alcohol use, medications, drugs, or ingesting other substances.

There have been 38 DUI arrests to date in 2013.

Rapid City police make more DUI arrests in 2012
