A KOTA Territory water department won a state wide award for it's clean water. The Box Elder Water Department won the 'Water/Wastewater System of the Year award, presented by the South Dakota Rural Water Association.
Mayor Bill Griffiths presented the award at Tuesday night's City Council meeting to Al Todd; the Box Elder Public Works Director.
Todd has been with the department for ten years and says it's been a team effort to create the best water in the state.
"This has to do more with how we handle ourselves with state regulations, billing, and water breaks, and how we handle the system. I'm really happy, I'm really proud of the crew, they earned it," said Todd.
Todd says he and his crew are out every day monitoring the water for chemicals
