Fire Damages Sheridan Home

The Sheridan Fire-Rescue Department responded to a reported structure fire at 433 W Works just after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. On arrival, fire crews discovered a fire in the attic of a two story, single family home. Fire crews entered the building with air packs and a 1 ¾ inch handline, advancing to the second floor. Large sections of the ceiling and walls had to be removed to access the fire. Windows on the second floor were also broken out to clear the floor of smoke and improve visibility for the fire crews. The fire was under control within approximately 20 minutes.

Fire damage was contained to the attic areas. However, substantial smoke, heat, and water damage was sustained to the second floor. Firefighters used salvage tarps to protect contents of the main floor during the suppression efforts.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Sheridan Fire-Rescue Department. It is expected that the cause will be released by Tuesday.

Sheridan Fire-Rescue received automatic aid from Goose Valley Fire Department and Rocky Mountain Ambulance. No one was in the home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
