Rapid City temperatures way warmer than average

In down town Rapid City we reached a high of 59 degrees Wednesday, which is 21 degrees warmer than the usual average this time of year. And that warm weather brought people out and about to enjoy the beautiful January day.

Even though it's the middle of the week, people in Rapid City still managed to take some time out of their day to enjoy the warm weather.

Canyon Lake Park was full of fisherman, families, and kids. Others took advantage of the sunshine and washed their vehicles. And Meadowbrooks Golf Course had some golfers getting a few holes in before more snow heads our way.

Golfer Tim Kretschmar says if the grass was green, Wednesday would have been the perfect golfing day. "Feels like 70, I'm actually hot, overdressed and the grounds a little crusty, frozen so how far the ball runs out is a little iffy, but other than that it's a great day in the neighborhood," said Krestchmar.

The highest recorded temperature in Rapid City for this time of year is 69 degrees.
