South Dakota legislature to consider concealed carry bill again

Posted:

South Dakota legislators are trying again this year to eliminate the need for concealed carry permits.

A law sponsored by Hot Springs Republican Rep. Lance Russell would allow law-abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons without a permit as long as they were eligible to do so.

The legislature passed a comparable bill last year, but Gov. Dennis Daugaard vetoed it.

In Wyoming, Gov. Matt Mead signed a similar into effect after the 2012 legislative session.
