A KOTA Territory restaurant went up in flames Sunday night, bringing more than dozen engines from several local fire departments to the scene.
Firefighters got the initial call at around 6:45 p.m. Sunday that the Big Horn Crossing restaurant outside of Hill City was on fire.
When first responders got there, the entire building was engulfed in flames.
First reports indicated the sound of explosions inside, but it's unclear what might have caused them.
At least 15 engines from at least four fire departments were on scene, and even though the building seems to be a total loss, there are no indications anyone was harmed.
"My understanding is that they had closed for the day sometime this afternoon," Pennington County Fire administrator Dennis Gorton said at the scene, "and as far as I know, there was nobody in the building."
The deputy state fire marshal planned to investigate the cause starting Monday.
