A pint-sized philanthropist we first introduced you to in December is getting a jump start on next year's project with a little help from MyTown.
Seven-year-old Kennedy McLellan stopped by the KOTA studios Friday to pick up a $500 check.
Kennedy was named the MyTown Hero for 2012 for raising almost $1,000 on her own to buy gifts for a needy family in Rapid City.
The honor comes with $500 for Kennedy to donate to a charity of her choice, but it might just go to same family next year.
"We would like to stay in touch with them and see how they're doing," said Kennedy's mom, Mariah. "If they're doing better next year then maybe we could find a new family, but we'd like to stay in touch with the family that we met."
We first told you about Kennedy's mission in December.
After losing her 18-year-old uncle in car accident, Kennedy decided to do something nice for someone.
That something was raising almost $950 to buy clothing, toys, and gift cards for five children living with their grandparents.
When Kennedy personally delivered the gifts, the family described her as 'a little girl with a big heart.'
