Rapid City woman reunited with lost 1972 flood ring

A Rapid City woman is reunited with a keepsake she lost decades ago in The 1972 Flood.

Vesper (Matson) Wright, her then husband John Rau and their son made it out their trailer before the floodwater, but their Rapid City High School class rings did not. Minnesota native Neil Ramlow stumbled upon the two rings - engraved with initials VM and JR - and a bracelet while working in Rapid City with a salvage company.

Through the help of librarians at Rapid City Public Library, and a quick search through a 1968 yearbook, Wright was finally reunited with her gold ring.

Wright says she hasn't taken the ring off since Ramlow mailed it to her December 12, 2012. She says Ramlow is working to reunite the other ring and the bracelet with the her ex-husband, who now lives in Arizona.
