A KOTA Territory hospital is making it easier on heart patients in Wyoming.
The new cardiac catheterization lab at Sheridan Memorial Hospital will offer more services to patients suffering from heart disease. Doctors will use the lab to detect blockages in arteries, measure blood oxygen levels and perform other procedures.
Hospital officials say the addition means patients won't have to travel for hours to receive the treatment they need.
"It enables both the patient to have quick response to any issues that they may have related to cardiology. It also gives the families a peace of mind not having to travel all the way either to Billings or to Casper," said cath lab coordinator, Jennifer Rasp-Vaughn.
Construction is wrapping up and the cath lab will open on January 21.
Construction costs for the lab total near $3.8 million.
