Millions of Americans take to the air for their holiday travels, and local airport leaders say they're feeling the rush.
Like every other year at this time, the airport is busy, but this year, Airport Director Cameron Humphries says it looks like passenger numbers will be up.
Beginning a week before Thanksgiving the number of travelers increased. About 1,200 people per day pass through the airport. Humphries says that number will stick through the end of the year.
Humphries says fortunately weather has not hindered local flights. "We had a little bit of weather here locally but it actually didn't cause too much in the way of cancellations," he said.
Holiday passenger numbers compare with South Dakota's other busy travel season, summer.
