The Lakota Nation Invitational is much more than just a basketball tournament anymore.
Tonight hundreds of Vietnam War Veterans as well as active military were honored.
Richard Charging Eagle with the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, who's also a Vietnam Veteran, says this is first time a ceremony was specific to honoring Vietnam Veterans at the LNI.
He says many men and women who returned home from that war were un welcomed at the time, carrying those feelings over even to this day. Causing some to maybe not participate.
"I was really in awe to see that many people, but I still think there should be more Veterans that come out and want to take part in this special ceremony. And it's good to see that all the tribes and people from the cities to see that this is taking place," says Charging Eagle.
Each Veteran received free passes to watch the days events, as well as a free meal for them and their families.
