No action taken against Rapid City alderman

A Rapid City alderman will remain on the city council, unpunished, after being invested for comments he made nearly 3 months ago.

The decision to take no action against Ward 2 Alderman Bill Clayton was made at a closed/executive meeting Thursday night. Amid the decision, there was disagreement about the due process and whether the internal audit committee's meeting should be open to the public.

Alderman Clayton was being investigated by the city attorney's office after at least two parties filed complaints against him in August for inappropriate comments he had made.

One of the complaints was submitted by a KOTA Territory News reporter; the other was regarding Alderwoman Charity Doyle.
