Local community gets $50,000 for new playground

A local community gets a $50,000 grant for new playground equipment.
Boykin Park in Box Elder will use money from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to replace outdated equipment.

The grant program gives money to projects that promote use of outdoor equipment.

Tanya Sheperksy with the city says the playground gets heavily used by children from two close by neighborhoods, "Boykin Park is a very well used park, a lot of the equipment needs to be upgraded now. So, we're excited for the spring of 2013, when we can start upgrading all the playground equipment."
The program provides 50 percent of the funds needed for the project, the remainder of the money is sponsored by the Game Fish and Parks Department.
