No bond reduction for accused Box Elder arsonist

A Box Elder man accused of burning down his mobile home while it was occupied attempts to get his bond reduced once again.
Although his attorney advised against it, Joseph Hodges, 29, submitted a handwritten note to Judge Janine Kern Monday.

The note indicated Hodges would be allowed to live with a relative if he were released, and that he was taking steps to change his life.

Judge Kern did not reduce his $100,000 bond, saying she still has concerns over his mental state and that he may still pose a threat to the community.

Hodges is charged with arson and reckless burning.

Authorities say Hodges poured gasoline throughout the home and set it afire on Oct. 25th while his girlfriend and her ex husband were still inside.
No one was hurt.

Hodges faces up to 35 years in prison if convicted.
