Almost a year ago, her baby daughter died under suspicious circumstances involving a teenage boy.
Months later, the Rapid City mother was arrested on charges of sexual contact, rape and child pornography.
Prosecutors say psychological reports have deemed April Solles to be unfit to stand trial.
No further details were released on what the psychological reports indicate, but the finding does slow down the proceedings.
Now, state prosecutors are sending April Solles, 28, to Yankton to meet with state psychologists in order to get a more thorough psychological evaluation.
Solles faces two counts of possessing and manufacturing pornography, two counts of sexual contact and three counts of fourth degree rape.
Solles is looking at 10 years in prison for each child pornography and sexual contact count against her.
Prosecutors say the case will be at a standstill until the results come in.
"We had been in talks for a plea deal, but we can't proceed until we know she understands the charges," said Tracey Decker, Pennington county prosecutor.
The findings of that report will be reviewed in court in about a month.
