It's been a difficult couple of weeks for students at Canyon Lake Elementary.
But today the school received quite the Christmas gift.
For five years, Don and Linda Rydstrom have provided Christmas presents for the entire student body.
This year, players from the Rapid City Rush helped gift-wrap and distribute the presents.
The gifts come at an especially trying period for the school, as a young child who attended the school was killed in a November house fire.
"The last couple of weeks have been very hard for us over here. We lost one of our students a couple weeks ago. So this is huge. We needed something like this to get them back on their feet. They get the Rush involved. What an awesome experience for the kids," said Brad Tucker, Canyon Lake Elementary Principal.
"About five years ago now and it came to our attention really in church, because they'd pass the plate and say that there are a lot of kids over here that are in need of not only presents, but a lot of staple things," said Don and Linda Rydstrom.
The gifts are varied by age and gender for the children, with Kindergartners receiving Fisher Price laptops.
