After a traditional Lakota inauguration Friday, Bryan Brewer is now the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation Tribal President.
The inauguration began with a grand entrance, followed by the swearing in of the new tribal council members. Brewer was officially sworn in earlier this week, but today, in front of his Lakota family, it became official.
Brewer says he plans to hit the ground running in order to accomplish his long list of goals. First and foremost he says it will be important to unite his council. "We're never going to agree on everything, but I hope, as president, I can pull these people together so we can work together," Brewer said.
Brewer defeated John Yellow Bird Steele last month. This is Brewer's first political venture.
