The South Dakota office of Wildland Fire will soon move to Rapid City's West Side.
The Wildland fire suppression unit -currently headquartered alongside the airport is being forced to move by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The organization will re-locate to the old Game, Fish, and Parks building near Sioux San Drive.
That building will be renovated with Governor Dennis Daugaard's proposal of $500,000 of state mone along with $300,000 in federal funding.
Division director Jay Esperance says the design of the new location should fit their needs.
"We're very happy with the design and the building we're getting. To make the dollars and cents work we had to be a little conservative in size of office space but we can definitely make it work," said Esperance
Wildland Fire currently has a field office at the new location.
