New way to help those in need at Rushmore Mall

Rushmore Mall has joined in on a new national movement to help those in need this holiday season.

Giving Tuesday, is an event where the mall and its parent company, Simon Property Group, will encourage shoppers to donate to two charities.

The first is the Simon Youth Foundation, a local fundraising campaign that gives scholarships to local students.

The second is the American Red Cross which provides disaster relief services.

Mall directors say they hope this first annual Giving Tuesday is a big hit.

"We don't have a set goal in mind yet but, we're encouraging all shoppers to donate as much as possible and give back this holiday season," says Marketing Director Kat Stark.

Stark says the Simon Youth Foundation is a charity that accepts donations all year long.
