The search in central Utah continues for a plane carrying a Gillette woman and her daughter, missing since Sunday.

Missing are Trista Meyer, 34; her 9 year-old daughter Shyann Lenz; and Meyer's boyfriend, 37-year-old Matt Ahrens. Ahrens is also the plane's pilot.

Courtney Barrera, Meyer's cousin, said the last time that the family had contact with them was Sunday, around noon, when they made a refueling stop in Fillmore, Utah. The three had taken off that morning from Bakersfield, Calif., on their way to Gillette.

Tuesday afternoon, the Utah Civil Air Patrol had five aircraft in the air, searching for the plane, a 1982 low-winged Piper. "We have some planes doing route searches and others doing more localized searches," CAP 1st Lt. Stephen Miller said. The CAP is also coordinating ground searches with various county sheriff's departments in the area.

Weather has been favorable for the search but according to Miller, they will have to scale back the operation at night due to the mountainous terrain.

Miller said the CAP began it's search and rescue mission Monday after the family notified the Air Force that the plane was overdue.
