Mandarin Orange Cake



1 c sugar
1 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
1 can mandarin oranges, drained
1 tsp vanilla


3/4 c brown sugar
3 TB butter
3 TB milk

Mix all cake ingredients except vanilla in a bowl and beat 3 minutes. Add vanilla and combine. Pour into an 8-inch square or round pan and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes. While cake is still warm, pierce holes in top with fork.

While cake is baking, combine topping ingredients and bring to a boil. Pour over hot cake (this needs to be done when cake is HOT). Cool slightly and serve.
