Man receives two year prison sentence for assaulting KOTA reporter

A Rapid City man accused of assaulting a KOTA territory news reporter will spend two years in prison.
Damian  New Holy, 36, previously admitted in court that he was "black out drunk" when he threatened reporter Katy Urban with a knife at Rapid City's Summer nights festival on August 30th.

New Holy had faced a maximum sentenced of 15 years in prison for aggravated assault but as part of a plea deal, the state recommended two years behind bars.

New Holy admitted he couldn't make it on probation because of his alcoholism and he wanted to go to jail or a substance abuse treatment center.
He'll be eligible for parole in one year.
